FAQs

Wedding FAQs

  • Easy peasy. You say 'heck yeah, we wanna book you!’ - fill out the form on my contact page, sign an electronic agreement and send a 20% deposit fee. Boom! Done.

  • My style is a happy blend of photojournalistic wedding photography and editorial wedding photography with true-to-life color, vibrant editing. I capture the candid, authentic moments that come from you and your guests simply living your wedding day. But, I also provide direction for desired posed and composed imagery.

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! I love to travel and I love destination weddings. Send me more info on your travel plans and I will send you a custom quote to meet your needs. When I fly out of state, my travel expense for airplane flights, rental cars, and hotel fees are added into the cost of the wedding package.

  • It's your day, and it's totally up to you, of course! Doing a first look helps you get to do most of the photos ahead of time (even bridal party and family photos) and then you get to enjoy the cocktail hour with your peeps. If you opt not to do a first look, there’s nothing wrong with that.

  • Well, you don't neeeeed a second shooter... I’m usually a one-woman show and I'm very comfortable photographing weddings solo. However, I know that having another set of eyes on your big day, especially when having 150+ guests, can offer some killer advantages. A second photographer can be added to any wedding for $185 per hour, just ask!

  • Yes, if requested! We can agree on a list in advance, which will detail all the group shots desired. Your list will include the names of your guests required for each group shot. On your wedding day, I work with the list, setting up the group shots required, with the help of one family member/your wedding coordinator who kindly ensures that guests are ready to be photographed.

There is an element of light direction in my approach when I’m photographing family and group shots, but my methods are discreet and the finished product is always very natural!

  • I shoot digital so I don’t miss a beat. I do not offer videography as part of my services. However, I have several really great videographers who I’ve worked with and can recommend.

It is just as easy to book a videographer separately as it is book one in an all-in-one package. Your videographer and I will work together to seamlessly capture your day.

  • I sure do. Let me know in advance if your venue requests a Certificate of Insurance.

Family Session FAQs

  • A general rule of thumb for outdoor sessions is either early morning, or 60-90 minutes before sunset for that magical golden light. Indoor sessions work best in the morning or early afternoon. When it comes to sessions with children - you know your kiddos best and sometimes it’s worth it to prioritize happy, well-rested kids over perfect lighting. So, if there’s a better time of day for you - let’s chat and find a time that works best.

  • Weather can be unpredictable but here’s the deal….if you or I think it’s going to be way too rainy or stormy, we can easily shift your session to a different date. I want you to have a great experience, so rest assured, I will be keeping a close eye on multiple weather tracking apps and we will adjust plans accordingly.

  • Absolutely, my family sessions are always a mix of capturing those candid, documentary moments and those moments of everyone looking at the camera.

  • Of course! I love capturing generational photos and pictures of grandparents with their grandkids are so heartwarming. You can include as many people as you like in your session. Each session package includes up to 6 people. Each additional person is $20.

Maternity Session FAQs

  • Generally, maternity sessions typically take place between 32-36 weeks, but this can vary depending on how you’re feeling and personal preference. It’s ideal to have a defined bump by the time you do the photos, but not feel so pregnant that you are really uncomfortable.

  • I’ve been there and so many of us moms have struggled with how we feel in our new bodies and debate about whether we really want to capture that time in their life in photography. Well, the female body is truly a miracle! What it can do should be embraced and celebrated! I have a lot of experience with gently directing expecting moms in certain ways so that we capture you in the most flattering way.

  • This is totally up to you! With all the changes and adjustments that your body has been going through for the past several months, professional glam can definitely give you a confidence boost and enhance that natural glow that you have now. If you’re not the best at applying makeup or styling your hair, a professional hair stylist and makeup artist can help you achieve the look you are envisioning for your session.

  • Absolutely, I encourage immediate family members to join! Please bring your husband/partner and any older children to your session. Having your family be a part of your session will allow me to create more family oriented images where they can show their love for your unborn baby. Intimate images of just yourself and your partner should also be considered. I suggest you bring an extra adult to keep the children busy while I take you both away undisturbed to relax for the best results.

Newborn Session FAQs

  • At-home lifestyle newborn sessions are about the connection and love that family members already have for their new addition. During your session, I'll capture special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together. If siblings are involved, I usually take care of those photos first so that they can go and play during the rest of the session. I love when family pets can join in too. We can also take some photos outdoors, if the weather permits.

It can be helpful to have a friend or family member at the house who can watch siblings during the rest of the session so that Mom and Dad can be in photos with the baby. There will also be time for photos of the baby alone.

  • The most important piece to an at-home session is making the best use of natural light, so pick out a few areas where light is the best. Typically, this is in the living room, master bedroom, and nursery, but of course that varies depending on how your house is designed. I do bring an on-camera flash with a diffuser.

Try not to stress too much about your house being spotless, but focus more on de-cluttering the areas you think we'll be shooting in. Simple is always better in my opinion. A solid, neutral color comforter/duvet on the bed works best, if we take any pictures in the bedroom.

Another important piece to remember — is to be comfortable and relaxed, and don’t stress about whether the baby is sleeping or awake, happy or fussy! We all know the baby is the boss and we will just follow their lead.

  • Newborns are unpredictable and this shoot is all about them. Please do not worry about your baby crying or needing to eat during the shoot —this is why I recommend booking the Full Session which allows for feedings, diaper/outfit changes, etc.. It’s usually a good idea to try and feed your baby right before the session so they’re content.

  • I recommend keeping it simple and comfortable. Neutral, light colors (creams, whites, earth tones, grays or pastel tones) work best as they don't take away from the natural beauty of your baby. You can add pops of color to your outfit, if you wish, by using jewelry or accessories. Solid or floral tops (and textures like big knits and lace) work best. Stay away from prominent logos or writing on clothing. For your partner, the same rules apply.

Anything goes for the baby - a classic, timeless style could include plain onesies, muslin swaddles, or just diaper - whatever their comfort level is. I also love personal touches, so I’m all for monogram blankets and clothing.

  • The style of newborn photography that I specialize in is lifestyle sessions. Rather than posed newborn shots, I love to capture the relationship between the new baby and his/her parents and siblings. This doesn’t mean that I won’t take individual photographs of the baby and capture some great detail shots of his/her little toes and fingers.

I am happy to incorporate any ideas you might have! Feel free to incorporate any special family quilts, heirlooms or baby blankets that you would like to use in the photos.

General FAQs

  • Wedding & elopement galleries are delivered within 3-6 weeks of the wedding date.

  • I don’t like to withhold your memories from you, so I give you all the good ones aka the ones where you aren’t blinking, it’s super blurry, etc. For weddings, depending on the number of guests and events happening, you can expect 65-85 images per hour.

  • I will email you a link to your password-protected, online gallery. You can download all the hi-resolution JPG photos from the gallery and also share them with friends and family! No watermarks. These photos are ready to print. Print away!

All online wedding galleries are accessible for at least 1 year after they are delivered.

  • I don’t believe in majorly Photoshopping people because you are beautiful exactly as you are! However if there is something that will be gone in two weeks (acne, scratch, etc…) I will do my best to remove that.

  • I GOT YOU! I won’t leave you hanging at all! I won’t necessarily pose you, but I will gently guide you into natural positions to get raw emotion and movement.

  • I use Canon professional digital equipment and lenses. All my cameras, lenses, and flashes have a backup in the rare event that anything should happen to one of my pieces.

  • I do NOT deliver any RAW files to my clients. Part of my job as a photographer is to ensure high quality and consistent edits over an entire gallery and editing is also a major part in the photography process! I am hired for my editing style and because of that, I do not deliver unfinished products.

  • You do not get a copyright release; you do, however, get the high resolution images with a print release. This means you have the ability to post and print images. A copyright release remains with me - as the photographer, I am the original owner of the image.

  • Yes, I do! Your gallery is connected to one of the finest professional printing labs and they will ship directly to your door. The gallery I use to deliver your images makes it super easy to visualize your images in different frames or on products such as cards or calendars.

All of my photography packages include a print release, meaning the photos are yours to print as you please. I do recommend that you print with my professional print lab to guarantee quality and accurate color. Prints can be ordered from your online gallery. I have a wide variety of print sizes and products for you to order if you choose. Printing at poor quality print shops is not recommended as these printers have not been matched to my color calibrated computer and the colors of you image may look quite different.

Also, please do not edit or alter your digital images in any way, including filters on social media photo apps.

THOSE ARE JUST A FEW QUESTIONS…
